Description:St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (PIE), Florida served 1.3 million total passengers in 2004 from international and low fare domestic carriers. THE LPA GROUP INCORPORATED is providing services to expand and improve the terminal and increase the level of service to passengers while maintaining its low cost structure to airlines. The initial design and construction will consist of new concourse areas and passenger loading bridges to replace the current system of ground loading. Other desired building improvements include consolidation of the passenger screening checkpoint, relocation of and improvement to terminal concessions, and replacement of aged building infrastructure. Additional improvements will be phased in over time as funding is identified. A concurrent planning effort will address larger issues of the terminal area, including coordination with changes to the primary airport access from Highway 686 / Roosevelt Boulevard, and airfield changes to shorten and/or close an adjacent GA Runway 9-27 to allow for further terminal and cargo facility development. Overall proposed terminal buildout is 200,000 square feet.
