Description:Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc to the City of Biloxi's infrastructure in 2005, damaging Biloxi's water distribution, sewage collection and storm drainage systems along with several sewer lift stations. The storm destroyed roadway and storm drainage facilities that remain in desperate need of repair in order to get Biloxi and the city's critical infrastructure back up and running at maximum capacity. Repair and restoration are needed on approximately 426,000 linear feet of sewer main; 485,000 linear feet of water main; 48 lift stations; and 320,000 linear feet of storm drainage. In an effort to help get the Biloxi's critical services working more effectively, city officials worked with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) to develop a collection of projects to repair.
THE LPA GROUP INCORPORATED was selected to provide design engineering for the rehabilitation of water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer infrastructure and the rehabilitation of the Buena Vista Lift Station as well as the removal/abandonment of the Greens at the Bellman/Lee Lift Station in Area 7: Buena Vista East, Phase 1 & 2 of the Restore Biloxi-Infrastructure Repair Program. Area 7: East Buena Vista is comprised of U.S. Highway 90, Water Street, Howard Avenue, and Peyton Avenue, as well as other streets that intersect these main thoroughfares.
