On Monday, March 22, 2010, Titusville-Cocoa Airport Authority held a Groundbreaking Ceremony to kick-off construction of the Corporate Administration Building at the Space Coast Regional Airport. Along with Titusville-Cocoa Airport Authority's Chairman, Jerry Sansom, and Executive Director, Michael D. Powell, the event was attended by many U.S. and local dignitaries. Titusville Mayor, James H. Tully, State Senator Bill Nelson, the U.S. Representative for Florida's 24th Congressional District, Susan Kosmas, Area V Director for the USDA, Vernon Fuller and Florida Department of Transportation's Supervisor of Aviation and Seaport Programs, James Wikstrom, are just a few of those in attendance.
This long awaited project is being funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as well as the Florida Department of Transportation. The project consists of an 8,964 square foot facility and includes parking, roadways, and utilities. The building was designed by THE LPA GROUP INCORPORATED's Architecture group in West Palm Beach, Florida. Site and roadway design was completed by THE LPA GROUP INCORPORATED's aviation group in Lake Mary, Florida. Construction administration and resident inspection services were also provided by THE LPA GROUP INCORPORATED. Construction is anticipated to take 300 days.
