On Tuesday, November 10th, 2009, the first bridge replacement on the MoDOT Safe and Sound Bridge Improvement Project was opened to traffic after a total construction duration of only 30 days -- 6 days (16%) faster than originally scheduled. The existing bridge, originally constructed in 1936, was structurally deficient and posted for load. The bridge is the first of of 554 bridges throughout the state of Missouri that will be replaced by KTU Constructors. THE LPA GROUP INCORPORATED is the lead designer for 372 of the 554 bridges and developed the overall structural scheme employed by the KTU Constructors Team, making the rapid replacement of these bridges possible.
